Most reactive samples ultimately do not show HIV positivity. Until a final result is confirmed, it is important to prevent possible HIV transmission. The best solution is sexual abstinence and, at the very least, consistent use of condoms during all types of intimate contact (anal, vaginal, and oral). Don’t forget the potential risk of blood transmission, especially through sharing needles, syringes, and drug solutions.
